I was recently blessed by praying with my daughter. I often do not enjoy praying in groups because I feel we (including myself) tend to pray about things that we think will make others feel better or we will simply change our words to a more flowery version so others will not think we are [...] In church you often hear the word “unconditional” to describe God’s love for us. I think everyone is assuming that we all have a foundation for what love is and then we imagine that foundation X 10. What does the person do who has been homeless and abused and has no foundation for what real love [...] What a simple slang term and yet it somehow has power over people. Almost like the dreaded double dare or the terrible triple dog dare affects you. Although chickenshit seems to point to a slightly different type of meaning such as something you should be doing or wanted to do but were afraid to do. [...] |
